Exhibition of papercutting art by folk artist Eglė Dvarionaitė-Vindašienė "The Tree of Life".

The author got into papercutting art in 1981 while studying at Šiauliai Pedagogical Institute and taking part in the ethnographic ensemble. Her main interest is traditional paper curtains that she learned to cut from Julija Daniliauskienė (Putvytė). Eglė Dvarionaitė-Vindašienė's works' main focus is the Tree of Life. "Tree. Tree of Life. Tree of the World. Pillar of the Universe. The axis of the cosmos. Whatever we call it, it is the indivisible whole of the universe. All that is alive and dead is IT. Human is also a part of IT. Human is in the Tree, the Tree is in the Human. That is why the Tree establishes itself in human's life everywhere and always. Whatever one thinks, says or does, on this side and on the other side, the human feels the Tree" - says the author of the exhibition.

The folk artist organises solo exhibitions of her papercutting art in Lithuania and abroad, she also regularly writes articles and organizes dissemination of papercutting art, hosts seminars, practical workshops for children and the whole family, invites other artists for joint activities. She also participates in joint exhibitions and plein air workshops in Kaunas and Lithuania. The author's paper cutouts have illustrated various publications, her works have been acquired by museums, libraries, community centres and other organisations. In 2013, Kaunas City Municipality awarded the folk artist with a culture and art scholarship for her ethnic culture and heritage promotion.
