On Thursday, September 18 at 6 PM, a contemporary art exhibition inspired by the visionary works of Čiurlionis – rightly hailed as a Lithuanian genius – will open at the Kaunas Picture Gallery.

“Spectral Drift” is a collaborative exhibition between the AUDRA festival and the M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art. It aims to revisit and reinterpret the work of Lithuania’s most renowned artist through the lens of interdisciplinary art, performance, and contemporary music.

Drawing on three thematic worlds found in Čiurlionis' art – visual music and synesthesia, nature, folklore and mythology, as well as futurism and the cosmos – the exhibition invites visitors to explore how these ideas resonate today. In this space, Čiurlionis is no longer seen as a solitary genius, but rather as a living meeting point where his visions merge with the work of contemporary artists – extending, reimagining, and questioning the legacy of his creative output. The exhibition will feature more than 28 artists from Lithuania and abroad and will open previously unseen areas of the gallery.
