On Sunday, November 8, at 5:30 PM, the Kaunas Picture Gallery (K. Donelaičio St. 16, Kaunas) invites you to celebrate the 95th birthday of Fluxus pioneer Jurgis Mačiūnas with a concert by Dalius Naujokaitis & Nojo Airlines Ensemble.
“Dalius Naujo is a genius percussionist who has recently turned to conducting and composition. He is not normal! He is completely possessed by art – nothing else matters to him! The muses of music have made him lose his head; he moves forward unpredictably and dangerously, like all poets.” Jonas Mekas
At the concert, the spaces of the Kaunas Picture Gallery will come alive with live jazz, improvisation and a spirit of togetherness. Nojo Airlines Ensemble brings together Dalius Naujokaitis’ friends and fellow musicians from Lithuania, New York and Naples, including Jonathon Haffner, Eugenijus Varkalis, Giuseppe Zevola, Dovydas Stalmokas and many others, with whom the musician has been performing for many years.
The ensemble is constantly evolving and expanding – new faces join, bringing new instrumental combinations and possibilities. Every concert is unique, and this performance, dedicated to Jurgis Mačiūnas’ 95th birthday, will feature new compositions and plenty of unexpected moments.
