We continue "The Youth Platform" event series and would like to invite you to the exhibition "Hands on Press Print Archive "HOP-002".

Hands on press is a printing house in Kaunas, which has been operating for many years and has two employees, Gabrielė Gudaitytė and Inga Navickaitė, who are committed to celebrating analogue printing techniques and handmade work, and to creating high quality and beautiful print products. Nowadays, they are based in their office right here in the neighbourhood of the Picture Gallery, on Donelaičio Street, and they are constantly receiving curious visitors or glances through the windows of the basement, interested in the activities taking place inside. Since showing is much easier than telling, Inga and Gabrielė decided to open the archive drawers, which have not been opened for many years, and to present a very small but diverse part of their extensive archive of works in Kaunas Picture Gallery.

Over the long period of existence of the printing house, various valuable examples of printing have accumulated in its archives. Today, many years after their creation, they are on display in the exhibition not only as examples of art and design, but also as precious historical artefacts. This exhibition is a celebration of creation, printing and bounding – masterly executed handmade production. Don't be surprised if you haven't seen some of the products and their labels before: they are usually issued in small editions, which are often snatched out in an instant. Some of them have never seen the day’s light for various reasons unrelated to Hands on Press. Looking around, you will find a lot of everything - packaging for products, posters for events, examples of the visual identity of books. Excerpts from publications and articles displayed alongside will introduce the visitor to the context of the projects.

The event is open to the public and will be filmed and photographed. By attending the event you agree to be featured in photographs and videos of the event and are informed that these photographs and videos may be made public.
The exhibition is open: 20 06 2024 – 25 08 2024
