EVENT PROGRAMME
11:00 AM–1:00 PM | Creative Workshop for Families
What would a M. K. Čiurlionis birthday celebration be without creative discoveries? We invite visitors of all ages to explore M. K. Čiurlionis’s world through art and take part in a creative workshop inspired by memories of his close surroundings, music, the world of fairy tales, and profound reflections. Using charcoal, pastel and their pigments, we will experiment with different techniques, discover unexpected textures, layer colours, draw with our fingers and brushes, and create our own worlds inspired by Čiurlionis’s art.
4:00 PM | Thematic Guided Tour “Čiurlionis’s Harmony” (in English)
We invite you to discover M. K. Čiurlionis’s world not only by looking at his paintings, but also by listening to music and songs. During the tour, stories about one of Lithuania’s most prominent artists will be accompanied by live performances of Lithuanian folk songs harmonized by M. K. Čiurlionis. This is a unique opportunity to experience the spirit of the artist’s work more deeply and discover his connection with Lithuanian folk traditions.
The tour will be led by museum educator Armandas Čiapas.
2:00 PM | Works by Čiurlionis’s Teacher Kazimierz Stabrowski and the Čiurlionis Family Harmonium
Dr. Virginija Vitkienė, Director General of the M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art and art historian, will introduce works by Čiurlionis’s teacher, the artist Kazimierz Stabrowski, which are being exhibited for the first time in the M. K. Čiurlionis painting exhibition.
Professor and organ restorer Girėnas Povilionis will tell the story of the Čiurlionis family harmonium and perform several pieces on this newly restored instrument.
It is a wonderful opportunity, on M. K. Čiurlionis’s birthday, to discover the work of artist Kazimierz Stabrowski, whose works were donated to the museum by Dr. Jaunius Gumbis, and to hear the unique sound of an instrument that dates back to Čiurlionis’s time.
Tour duration – 60 min.
