Saturday 23 March at 4 p.m. Francophone Month in Kaunas invites you to a concert of French music. Yuriy Shutko (flute, Ukraine) and Yusuke Ishii (piano, Japan) will perform works by César Franck, Cécile Chaminade, Albert Roussel and Francis Poulenc. The concert will be hosted by musicologist Dr. Darius Kučinskas.
Yuriy Shutko (b. 1968) is a distinguished artist of Ukraine, soloist of the National Philharmonic Orchestra, Doctor of Philosophy. He is a prominent figure in the cultural-musical life of Ukraine today, regularly performing throughout the country as a soloist, in ensembles and with Ukrainian orchestras. Shutko combines his concert activity with his pedagogical work - he is an associate professor at the National University of Culture and Arts in Kiev. Since 1999 Shutko has been playing a golden flute of SANKYO brand.
Pianist Yusuke Ishii (b. 1980) is a doctoral student at Kaunas University of Technology, working on his dissertation on Lithuanian modern music in the Diaspora. Yusuke was brought to Lithuania by his desire to learn more about the work of composer Vytautas Bacevičius and Lithuanian modern music. In 2023, the pianist recorded and released a record dedicated to Vytautas Bacevičius and gave several concerts of Lithuanian music in Vilnius and Kaunas.
