MEETING WITH WORLD-RENOWNED ARTIST BARBARA KASTEN

The event will offer visitors a unique experience: a guided tour of the exhibition led by the artist herself, a conversation about her artistic practice and her special connection with Lithuania, a documentary film screening, and an opportunity to see photographs from her 1995 visit to the country.
A tour of "Post-Abstraction" with Barbara Kasten will offer a unique opportunity to explore her work from the artist’s perspective and hear her speak about photography, sculpture, light, colour, space, and her nearly six-decade-long artistic journey.
Lucija Armonaitė’s documentary film "Impression. Lithuanian-American Artist Barbara Kasten" tells the story of the artist’s visit to Lithuania in 1995. The film captures not only moments from the preparations for her first exhibition in Vilnius, but also impressions from her travels around Lithuania and a warm reunion with relatives. Following the screening, Barbara Kasten will take part in a conversation, sharing her memories of Lithuania and reflections on her artistic experience, as well as answering questions from the audience. Participants will also have an opportunity to see photographs of wooden churches in small Lithuanian towns that the artist took during her journey.
The evening programme will continue with exhibition curator Agnieszka Pindera, who will present the exhibition catalogue and discuss the role of Zachęta – National Gallery of Art in Warsaw in presenting Barbara Kasten’s work. The Lithuanian edition of the exhibition catalogue will also be introduced. Copies will be available for purchase, with an opportunity to have them signed by Barbara Kasten.
