Tuesday, August 27, 5 p.m. we invite you to the closing of Jazmina Cininas lagerphone exhibition "The Sparrow Made Some Beer", during which the Melbourne Lithuanian folk group "The Lost Clog" will perform.

Jazmina Cininas’ solo exhibition of lagerphones, "The Sparrow Made Some Beer", will be brought to life with a live performance by Melbourne-Lithuanian folk group "The Lost Clog". All ten members of "The Lost Clog" were born in Melbourne, Australia, to Lithuanian parents and grandparents who fled Soviet-occupied Lithuania in the wake of World War II. Jazmina and her husband Jonas have been members of the group since its inception in 2010, when Jazmina also began creating the lagerphones— traditional Australian folk percussion instruments consisting of beer caps hammered to a stick—re-imagined as Baltic nature motifs for use in "The Lost Clog" performances.

Nine members of the group are currently on tour in Lithuania, performing at the "Mėnuo Juodaragis" music festival in Zarasai as well as the "Vilnonės dienos" festival in Raubonys, with additional performances at the Antanas & Jonas Juška Museum of Ethnic Culture in Vilkija and elsewhere. This is "The Lost Clog" third tour to Lithuania, having previously toured in 2019 to take part in "Skamba Skamba Kanklai" and 2015 to participate in the International Folklore Competition "Saulės Žiedas". Jazmina Cininas’ collaborative lagerphone extravaganza with "The Lost Clog", "The Sparrow Made Some Beer", won the Best Cultural Project at the 2022 Australian Folk Music Awards and attracted major funding from "Creative Victoria".

The group will be performing selected songs from the award-winning project at the Kaunas Picture Gallery in a closing celebration of the exhibition "The Sparrow Made Some Beer".

The event is open to the public and will be filmed and photographed. By attending the event you agree to be featured in photographs and videos of the event and are informed that these photographs and videos may be made public.
