The International Photography and Media Art Festival (IPMA) exhibition is on view at the Kaunas Picture Gallery (K. Donelaičio St. 16, Kaunas).

This year’s IPMA Festival invites visitors to look closely at the connections that are formed, sustained, broken, change direction, become clearly visible, or sometimes remain barely perceptible.

As every year, the 2026 IPMA exhibition brings together works by artists from Lithuania and around the world in a single space. Some speak of human closeness. Others explore the vulnerability of the body, the interplay between nature and culture, memory, cultural codes, and the dependencies created by technology. At first glance, each work seems to look in a different direction. Towards a different experience. Towards a different point of sensitivity. What is particularly intriguing is each artist’s attempt to interpret connection, to explore, understand and reveal it. Yet it is equally important to consider not only each work individually, but also the connections that emerge between them: between images that unexpectedly resonate with one another; between themes that begin to complement or contradict each other; between tensions, harmonies and coincidences.

“Connections” becomes an open question at the IPMA Festival: how do you experience and perceive connections when you are in between? When you are connected. To another person. To an image. To a body. To a place. To what is alive, and to what we still call inanimate.
