Paulius Galaunė (1890–1988) was a pioneer of professional museology, an art historian, pedagogue, graphic artist, collector of works of art, and a deserved figure of culture. He headed the M. K. Čiurlionis Art Museum for twenty-five years. The most important activities of P. Galaunė include the research of Lithuanian folk art, the continuation of the ex-libris tradition, and the promotion of book art. Paulius Galaunė was a bibliophile, one of the initiators and members of the 27th Society of Book Lovers, who actively contributed to the dissemination of book art. The permanent exhibition introduces P. Galaunė’s authentic library with a collection of more than 12.000 books and personal belongings.
