The cycle of exhibitions "The Youth Platform" presents Gretė Labanauskaitė's exhibition "Try on the Feeling".

Does fashion exist without visuals? Is it possible to understand fashion only through touch, sound, or smell? Exploring the differences and similarities in sensory experiences between individuals with visual impairment and sighted individuals has led to the creation of unique materials that enhance the experiences of both groups most effectively. From these materials, objects, sounds, scents, and clothing were created.

The exhibition by Gretė Labanauskaitė presents an artistic project that bridges the gap between the visually impaired and the sighted through non-visual fashion objects. Here, sight has no advantage – all objects can be (and are) perceived through other senses, imagination, and memory.

The aim of the exhibition is to allow blind people to fully experience fashion without causing exclusion, while enabling sighted viewers to rediscover the benefits and richness of the senses.

Designer Gretė Labanauskaitė turns clothing into a 'social tool' in her creative process. Her tactile clothing collection 'TU,' developed during her bachelor studies, won the Young Designer's Additional Prize '21 and the main prize at Design Days '21, and was showcased at fashion events in Lithuania and abroad. Her master's project, 'Try On The Feeling,' was awarded at the Good Design Awards '23.

The exhibition is open: 10 04 2024  – 09 06 2024
