The M. K. Čiurlionis National Museum of Art is launching a mini-exhibition series "Čiurlionis and Design" in order to encourage contemporary designers and creators of art industries to use the inexhaustible work of Čiurlionis, applying his ideas to our everyday life.

The first exhibition inspired by Professor Vytautas Landsbergis. The politician, historian of art and culture, and the most prominent scholar of Čiurlionis' work, discovers new inspirations in the artist's work. The professor invites to attest to the truth the traditional elements of Lithuanian folk design, which are abundantly found in Čiurlionis' works, and use them in our everyday environment.

Thanks to the joint efforts provided by Prof. Vytautas Landsbergis and UAB "Audėjas", a fabric sample based on the motifs of M. K. Čiurlionis' works was created.

The exhibition also features a chair designed by a furniture master Arvydas Tijūšas based on a sketch by Čiurlionis. While looking through many of the artist's drawings, the professor's daughter Birutė Landsbergytė had worked out an idea to make a chair decorated with Lithuanian motifs as drawn by Čiurlionis and present it to her father.

We are pleased to welcome all those interested in Čiurlionis' work, especially young designers and professionals.

The exhibition is open: 22 03 2024  – 02 06 2024
